In an epic 4 lap battle at the end, it was Greg Netherwood who stood victorious.
After Netherwood played the perfect strategy by pitting on the last caution before a long green flag run, being one of just a couple drivers able to go the distance, a wreck in the lead pack blew his strategy away. On the restarts, Netherwood fell back as far as 7th on the second to last restart. In the final 8 laps, Netherwood fought his way to the lead for the second time.
Netherwood actually qualified his #5 Startnparkblog.com Chevrolet Silverado on the pole, but iRacing Pro Series driver Jon Adams quickly took the lead off of turn 2 on the first lap.
The early part of the race was caution-filled before from lap 22 on the race ran green for over 25 laps, bringing fuel and tire strategy into the mix. During that green flag run there were some great battles for the lead and in the top pack that featured lap after lap of side-by-side racing.
In the point standings, it was Jon Doble who chopped the gap between first place nearly in half. Going into the event he was 8 points behind Mike Husby. But Doble’s #67 SPY Optic Silverado came home fourth while Husby’s #38 Great Clips Silverado finished 10th with 4 registered LNR drivers in between. That means Doble, who led a lap, will be three points behind him going into the season finale next Saturday night.
With recent iRacing updates, the location of the season finale is in doubt and should be announced at some point this week.
